17-year-old Jazareia Amonie Velasquez, A Walmart Supercenter Employee In Mount Pleasant Charged With Felony Battery Of A 70-year-old Woman

Velasquez was released on a 2,500 signature bond after being charged with one count of felony battery.

Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin - Jazareia Amonie Velasquez, 17, an employee from the Walmart Supercenter at the 3000 block of Oakes Rd. located in Mount Pleasant has been charged with one felony count for aggravated battery to an elderly and one misdemeanor count for disorderly conduct in connection with the July 7th battery of Pamela K. Shader, 70, at the Walmart store.

If convicted, Velasquez is facing up to 6-years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines for felony battery, and up to 90 days in jail and up to $1,000 in fines for the misdemeanor charge.

According to the criminal complaint, Shader and Velasquez got into a verbal argument at the cashier exit and Shader complained to the manager who was present in the area. Shader attempted to find out Velasquez name in order to file a complaint with corporate and while Shader attempted to take a photo of Velasquez, she repeatedly struck Shader in the face.

Mount Pleasant police responded to the scene and Velasquez was taken into custody.

Velasquez was released on a $2,500 signature bond and is expected in a Racine County court for a preliminary hearing on July 15.
