Two Milwaukee Southside Homicides Reported By Police And 21 People Injured By Gunfire Near The Fiserv Forum Deer District Over Weekend, 11 Suspects Arrested In Downtown Shootings

Two Milwaukee Southside homicides reported by police on late Saturday and early Sunday, and 21 people injured by gunfire near the Fiserv Forum Deer District on Friday, also Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson enacted Proclamation for two-day curfew for Saturday and Sunday for 21 under, outdoor Bucks Team big-screen TV's watch game at Deer District cancelled for Sunday.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Milwaukee police responded to shots fired on late Saturday, May 14, 2022 at around the 11:45p.m. at the 1100 block of W. Rogers St. and located a deceased 21-year-old White male.

In an unrelated shooting Saturday, a 48-year-old man was critically wounded around 8:35a.m. at the 2500 block of W. Rogers St. and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Also on early Sunday, May 15, 2022, police responded around 2:30a.m. to a shooting report at the 1900 block of W. Lincoln Ave. and discovered Juan Luis Estela Ortiz, 28, dead at the crime scene.

On May 11, 2022, Arthur B. Williams, 32, was fatally shot around 1:45p.m. at the 2400 block of S. 5th Place in the Southside due to a domestic dispute at a home. A known suspect is being sought by police.

On Friday, at least 21 people were shot ages 15 to 40, no fatalities reported in the Deer District sports entertainment Fiserv Forum outdoor area while celebrating the Bucks - Celtics game. The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA's Eastern Conference semifinals.

The outdoor viewing area at Fiserv Forum had at least 11,000 fans who were watching the game, the Bucks team management reported.

Some spectators at the event also reported that there was a lack of outdoor portable toilets in some adjacent areas.

The outdoor big-scteen TV watch party at Deer District has been canceled for Sunday night, according to the Bucks team.

In the first shooting was reported at around 9:10p.m. on Friday, 3 individuals were shot including a 16-year-old girl, after more than an hour later, a 21-year-old man was shot in the second reported shooting, and in the third shooting incident, police reported at least 17 people were shot. A shootout between two groups led to more than 22 gunshots fired near the Deer District.

Police arrested 11 individuals in connection with the shootings near the Fiserv Forum Deer District in downtown Milwaukee and 9-firearms were recovered by police. Of those suspects arrested, five males ages 20, 21, 28, 29 and 30 sustained gunshot injuries and were treated at a local hospital and then taken into custody.

On Saturday, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson enacted a Curfew Proclamation for both Saturday and Sunday nights from 11p.m. to 5:30a.m., which prohibits anyone under 21 to be around or near the Deer District neighborhood including part of the downtown area. More police will be assigned to the area.

Milwaukee Police will enforce the Mayor's Curfew Proclamation, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

Black Neighbor Posted Videos On Social Media Showing A White Neighbor's Son Knocking At His Door With Whip Looking For His 9-year-old Daughter, Then White Neighbor Shoots Gun

A Black neighbor in Forne says that the young son of a White neighbor came over to his home and knocked with a whip looking for his 9-year-old daughter and then allegedly scratched his Audi, which was caught on another neighbor's outdoor video camera.

Forney, Texas - On Thursday, Dezerrea "Dee" Nash, who is Black posted several videos on social media showing a 9-year-old White kid with glasses knocking hard at his front door with a whip in his right hand, who was looking for his 9-year-old daughter. The kid then allegedly scratched the Black neighbor's vehicle, which was video recorded by another neighbor's outdoor video camera.

Nash went to the White kid's residence at the 2000 block of Cross Cut Drive to talk to his father who is White. The White neighbor told Nash to get off his property and was holding a handgun. He then put the handgun aside and when Nash got closer, the White neighbor grabbed his gun firing a gun near his daughter.

Nash posted on Thursday, "Today was a crazy day! This kid comes to my door with a whip looking for my 9 year old daughter, then puts a big ass scratch on the Audi. The police came out and tells my wife, "it'll work itself out since he moving soon" 🤦🏽‍♂️  So when I get home, the dad is outside, see's me walking over to talk to him about the damages and goes in the house. The dad tells the son to say he's not there. A couple minutes later he finally a come to the door with a gun! His scary ass almost shot himself and his daughter standing behind him smh"

Police (Kaufman County Constable) told Nash's wife (Carissa) that the White neighbor was moving soon and it will sort itself out.

Bryan Thomas Brunson, 39. the White neighbor in the Travis Ranch community was eventually taken into custody by Kaufman County Constables from Precinct 2 for one Misdemeanor A count of deadly conduct, according to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office. His .357 Cal handgun was confiscated by Constables, Nash confirmed.

If convicted, Brunson is facing up to 1 year in prison and up to $4,000 in fines.

Milwaukee Homicide Suspect Ismael E. Moreno Wanted For The Murder Of Purcell Pearson In 2021 Arrested By U.S. Customs And Border Patrol At The San Ysidro Border Crossing In San Diego

Moreno allegedly shot  Pearson during an attempted robbery of a pair of $500 designer sunglasses, according to the criminal complaint.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Milwaukee police confirmed that Ismael E. Moreno, 18, who was charged with the homicide of Purcell Pearson, 22, on February 6, 2021 was taken into custody at the San Ysidro U.S. border crossing in San Diego, California by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). Moreno was attempting to cross to cross the U.S. border.

The CBP says, at about 4:30 p.m. on May 9, the teenaged fugitive from the shooting arrived on foot at the San Ysidro port of entry, seeking to enter the U.S. from Mexico.  The CBP officer completing his inspection for entry into the U.S. ran a routine inquiry through law enforcement databases and discovered an active felony warrant for his arrest, and that he should be considered to be possibly armed and dangerous.  Following standard safety protocols, CBP officers confirmed that he was not carrying any weapons at the border crossing and took the teenager into custody without incident.

Using his fingerprints, CBP officers confirmed that the teen was Ismael Eli Moreno Jr., a United States Citizen, with an active, no-bail, felony warrant issued for homicide out of Milwaukee. 

Moreno is awaiting extradition to Wisconsin to face one count of 1st-degree reckless homicide – party to a crime. If convicted, he could face up to 60 years in prison. 

According to the criminal complaint, Pearson was apparently shot by Moreno, then 17,  the passenger of a van while Tyrell D. Joseph, then 17, was driving in 2021. Both Moreno and Joseph were in the van as they attempted to flee with Pearson's Cartier designer sunglasses, as Pearson hanged on the side of the van passenger door and Moreno then fired the fatal shot that struck Pearson in the left side of the chest making him fall. Pearson was shot in the chest and back was able to get up and run about 20 yards before he collapsed from the gunshot wounds and died at the scene along the 2200 block of W. Wisconsin Ave. 

Both Joseph and Moreno are related, their mothers are sisters.

Joseph in a plea agreement pleaded guilty to one felony count of 2nd-degree reckless homicide - party to a crime in March 31, 2022 and was sentenced to 9 years in prison and 6 years extended supervision, according to court records.

Nicholas Matzen Charged With 1st-degree Reckless Homicide And Hiding A Corpse For The Death Of Emily Rogers In The Southside Of Milwaukee

Matzen admitted to police that he killed Rogers and had help moving her body to St. Francis.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Wednesday, Nicholas Matzen, 35, was charged with 1st-degree reckless homicide and hiding a corpse in connection with the murder of Emily Rogers, 23, in mid April. If convicted, Matzen is facing up to 60 years in prison for the homicide and up to 12 years in prison and up to $12,000 in fines for hiding a corpse. Bail for Matzen was set at $500,000.

According to the criminal, Matzen told police that he killed Rogers after learning she was talking to someone else and wanted to breakup with him. Matzen admitted that he called a friend and both of them removed Rogers' body from the residence where she was living at the 2500 block of W. Becher St. in the Southside. Matzen and his accomplice took Rogers' body wrapped in a rug to an industrial park in St. Francis and discarded her body near a retention pond.

Rogers' body was found on May 5th.

The Milwaukee Medical Examiner's Office ruled Rogers death a homicide. She died from asphyxia and had marks in her neck.

Laredo Police Officer Jesús Hernández Charged With Indecently Assaulting A Woman And Oppression In Webb County Texas

Hernández turned himself in to authorities after a warrant for his arrested was issued.

Laredo, Texas - On Wednesday, Jesús Hernández, 49, surrendered to authorities and booked in the Webb County jail after a warrant was issued charging him with two misdemeanor counts for indecent assault and official oppression of a woman. If convicted, Hernández is facing up to 1 year in jail and up to $4,000 in fines for official oppression and is facing up to 1 year in jail and up to $4,000 in fines for indecent assault. Hernández bail bond was set at $1,000 for each count.

According to the criminal affidavit, on April 6, 2022, the Laredo Police Department received a complaint by a woman who alleged that on March 19, 2022 around 3:00 a.m., she was at the 800 block of Santa Ursula Ave. trying to locate her vehicle. Police Officer Hernández while on duty assisted the woman to look for her vehicle and she accompanied him in the vehicle he was driving. He then indecently touched her in a sexual manner over her clothes, according to the complaint.

Hernández, a 25-year veteran in the police department was placed on administrative duty while an internal investigation by the Laredo Police Department (LPD) Office of Professional Standards was conducted. The LPD criminal complaint was filed with the Webb County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday who reviewed the complaint and issued a warrant for Hernández arrest.

21-year-old Man In A Scooter Arrested By West Allis Police For Speeding In Sidewalk And Going Through Stop Sign Intersections Without Stopping

21-year-old man in a scooter was pursued by multiple units from the West Allis Police Department after failing to stop for a traffic violation.

West Allis, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, Adrian Jean-Alain Duviols, 21, who was driving a scooter was taken into custody by West Allis police after failing to stop for a traffic moving violation. According to the West Allis Police Department, a police sergeant observed Duviols in scooter at the 8700 block of W. National Ave. around 10:00 a.m. on the street passing vehicles on the right with an excess speed of 40 mph. The sergeant attempted to stop Duviols, but the scooter driver ignored police. 

Multiple West Allis police units pursued the suspect in West Allis as he drove the scooter on the sidewalk with a speed excess of 25 to 35 mph.

Duviols was was eventually arrested at the 7700 block of W. Greenfield Ave. He is facing criminal charges for eluding and resisting an officer, according to the West Allis Police Department.

Duviols bail was set at $300 and was booked on Tuesday in the Milwaukee County jail pending charges.

The West Allis police and Duviols pursued was captured by Christine Brocklehurst in a 16 sec. video and posted on her Facebook account.


Update: Duviols was not criminally charged, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office placed him in an early prevention program.


Milwaukee Fire Department Lt. Carlos Velazquez Sánchez Becomes The Director Of The Survive Alive House

Lt. Velazquez Sánchez appointed as the new Director of the Milwaukee Fire Department Survive Alive House in the Southside.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Congrats to Milwaukee Fire Department Lt. Carlos Velazquez Sánchez who in February became the Director of the Survive Alive House, 2059 S. 20th St. in Milwaukee.

On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, H. Nelson Goodson, a Civil Rights and Immigrant Rights advocate congratulated Lt. Velazquez Sánchez on becoming the Director of the Survive Alive House, which trains youths in Milwaukee survival skills in case of a fire and the safe way to escape a burning building.

The Milwaukee Fire Education Center's Survive Alive House opened its doors in 1992, and each year over 13,000 Milwaukee children visit it to learn how to survive in the event of an actual home fire.
