40-year-old Ishmael Simmons, A Teacher At South Milwaukee High School Facing Criminal Charges For Punching 16-year-old Hispanic Student Multiple Times

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the criminal complaint by the South Milwaukee Police Department alleging that Simmons, a teacher at South Milwaukee High School criminally punched a 16-year-old Hispanic male sophomore multiple times during dismissal, according to pending charges.

South Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Monday, Ishmael Simmons, 40, a teacher at South Milwaukee High School was taken into custody by South Milwaukee Police after Simmons allegedly punched a 16-year-old Hispanic sophomore multiple times during a dismissal, what police are classifying as a teacher having an altercation with a student.

The mother of the student was allowed to see the camera surveillance video that recorded the incident when her son attempted to exit the school. Apparently, Simmons stopped the student from exiting and is seen punching the student multiple times. The mother has requested a copy of the video, but both the South Milwaukee High School administration and South Milwaukee police are refusing to release the video. Also, multiple mainstream media news outlets have also requested a copy of the video, but the school administrators and police have refused.

Simmons was released from custody by police pending charges. The South Milwaukee School District confirmed that Simmons was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
