Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Monday, an entertainment organizer posted on social media, the latest Tejano booked entertainment for the anticipated 3-day Mexican Fiesta (MF) 2021 this Summer. One of the Tejano entertainers booked for MF is Joe López, who was convicted of a felony in 2006 for sexually assaulting his 13-year-old niece Krystal López who had his child. López served 11 years in prison and was released in 2018 and has launched his come back as a Tejano singer.

On May 9th, Mexican Fiesta organizers had also confirmed that Los Tucanes de Tijuana had been booked for Sunday, August 29, 2021 during the 3-day Fiesta at the Summerfest grounds in Milwaukee.

The Mexican Fiesta is sponsored by the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation. Fiesta organizers haven't officially announced that the 3-day Mexican Fiesta 2021 will take place, but they have posted the latest booked Tejano and Mexican entertainment at their fiesta during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. They haven't made public any information on how they will deal with the COVID-19 restrictions placed by the City of Milwaukee Department of Health on outdoor events drawing crowds.

The Wisconsin facemask statewide restriction ends in June.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported on Monday that so far, 608,583 have tested positive for COVID-19 and 151 for today. There have been 6,990 reported deaths in Wisconsin since, the Coronavirus pandemic began in the state and 1 reported death for Monday.

Mexican Fiesta was canceled last year due to the peak of COVID-19 pandemic when no vaccines were available and in 2019 more than 80,000 festivalgoers attended MF.

Mexican Fiesta will also hold an outdoor parking lot marketplace bazaar with vendors, music and etc. at 2997 S. 20th Street in Milwaukee from 11a.m. to 4p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021.

Update: Joe López y Grupo MAZZ will also perform at the 3-day Midwest Tejano y Mexicano Fest in Toledo, Ohio at the Stranahan Theater grounds. The 3-day outdoor festival in Toledo is scheduled for August 27-29, 2021, the same weekend as the projected 3-day Mexican Fiesta at the Summerfest grounds in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Also, the Billy Bob's Texas announced on Social Media last Tuesday, July 13, 2021 that “The Joe Lopez y Grupo Mazz concert scheduled for September 18, 2021, has been canceled. Billy Bob’s Texas remains committed to the citizens of Fort Worth and will continue to take the feedback and concerns of our community seriously.”

The Tejano Nation dot net reported on Thursday that "concerns over the performance deal with Lopez, who is a convicted sex offender that was paroled in March 2018 after he served 12 years of his 20-year prison sentence for multiple sex offenses involving his 13-year-old niece in 2004. The 70-year-old singer has always maintained his innocence and is working towards exoneration."

But, his niece gave birth to Lopez's child after the sexual assault.

Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) has learned on Monday, July 19, 2021 that Gregorio Montoto from the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation confirmed that the Joe Lopez y Grupo Mazz performance was canceled for Mexican Fiesta 2021 in Milwaukee after learning Lopez's was a registered child sex offender. The Lopez performance was canceled about a month ago, but Mexican Fiesta failed to announce it earlier.
