Two Teens Charged In Connection With The Chayse Olivarez Homicide In Rio Grande

Olivarez was last seen alive on July 29 and never made it to a basketball game with friends, according to the criminal complaint.

Rio Grande City, Texas - On Friday, Jose Luis Garcia, Jr., 17, of Rio Grande was taken into custody by Texas Rangers and charged with capital murder in connection with the disappearance and homicide of Chayse Olivarez, 17. Olivarez was reported missing on July 30, 2017, according to the Starr County District Attorney's Office.  
Olivarez body was discovered buried near a pizza business. A $15,000 dollar reward was being offered for any information leading to Olivarez whereabouts.
The Starr County Sheriff's Office reported that another juvenile was also charged for tempering with evidence and failure to report a felony.
Both juveniles including Garcia are being held at the Starr County Juvenile Detention facility and are expected to be waive to adult court for prosecution. Garcia, if convicted is facing life in prison or the death penalty.
The investigation continues by the Texas Rangers, Rio Grande City Police Department, Starr County Sheriff's Department, 229th District Attorney's Office and the Starr County Special Crimes Unit.
