Félix Peña Killed During Horse Race At The Rubi XV Birthday Event in Mexico

Peña was trampled over by his horse causing his death during a $10,000 peso price winning horse race at the Rubi 15th (XV) Birthday event at a ranch in La Joya in the state of San Luis Potosi in Mexico.

La Joya Grande, San Luis Potosi, Mexico - On Monday, Félix Peña, 66, from the town of Jesús Maria de Villa de Guadalupe was representing Los Coyotes Negros during a horse race at the Rubi 15th Birthday celebration was killed when he got to close on the race tracks and his horse trampled over him causing his death at an area known as the Dry Lagoon (Laguna Seca) near a La Joya Grande ranch. The horse race was cancelled due to the fatal accident.
Rubi's XV Birthday celebration went viral on social media after her father, Cresencio Ibarra and her mother, Anaelda Garcia in a Youtube video invited people to attend the event. Ibarra later explained that it was an invitation for family and friends only, but the invite went viral as a joke and drew international attention.
The horse race winning price was $10,000 pesos ($485.20 U.S.), which Peña's horse was leading the horse race when he got over excited got into the racing track and his horse, the Oso Dormido ran him over. Peña was taken to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead.
In an interview by Horacero dot com, Peña stated he was not doing it for the price money, but for the fame and recognition for his horse as a winner.
A video of the incident was released by Horacero dot com.
Reports of a second person being injured or has died was reported as well, but no confirmation has been released.
