Milwaukee, WI - On Sunday, the striving local Puerto Rican Festival will take place at Humboldt Park on Augist 14 in Milwaukee and its success is credited to the Puerto Rican Team (PRT), which the main financial backer is Victor Huyke from the Conquistador, LLC, a for-profit business and the Publisher of the weekly El Conquistador Newspaper. The PR Fest today is being operated as a for-profit business rather than a traditional non-profit organization, which indicates a for-profit business can help finance a successful event with other co-sponsors.
Huyke released the following announcement on Facebook, "Puerto Rican Family Festival. Free and open to the public at Humboldt Park. Sunday, August 14, 2016. 11am to 6pm. Live music, children's area, car show, drum circle, dancers, and more.
Mayor's Barrett's walk at 11am. A eulogy and memorial for the victims of the Orlando Fl, Pulse Nightclub Shooting, by State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa. Award recognition to local pioneers Cesar Pabon, Felix Mantilla, and Jose Quiñones."
The PR Fest is run by more than 25 volunteers who help operate the event during the one-day festivity. The PR Fest volunteers are compensated with complimentary food provided by the main sponsor, according to a member of the PRT. Vendors at the event pay a fee to sell their products, services, food and refreshments.
Nabori, a popular Salsa band announced in its Facebook account that it will be performing at the PR Fest on Sunday this year.
Conquistador, LLC recently held "Nuestro Orgullo Boricua" Pageant on July 31 where Amy Mari Osorio, representing Rio Grande was crowned as the new Miss PR Fest Queen for 2016.
