Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Police Department confirmed that Potawatomi Hotel & Casino has added several Milwaukee police officers to patrol the inside of the Casino. Sergeant Timothy Gauerke from the Milwaukee Police Chief's Office stated, "The Potawatomi Hotel and Casino has a contract with MPD to have MPD Officers patrol their casino.  This is similar to what the Brewers and Bradley Center have set up with MPD.  The casino pays for the officers to be present.  The presence is during times and days that are requested by the casino."
The Milwaukee police officers at the Casino have limited arrest authority and do avoid contact with Potawatomi Casino customers and members unless it becomes a policing issue.
In April 2016, a 38-year-old man was arrested after discharging a handgun multiple times inside the Casino. The gun was recovered and no injuries were reported.
In June 2013, a 27-year-old man got into an altercation inside the Casino and he discharged a weapon several times. A woman was reported injured.
In July 2011, an armed suspect grabbed a money bag from a cashier at the Casino and fled outside. A unarmed Casino guard confronted the suspect and the robber managed to fire several shots at the guard. The suspect dropped the money bag and fled empty handed. No one was reported injured.
