Wauwatosa, WI - On Monday, Trameka Brown-Berry posted a Facebook (FB) photo of a class/home assignment that she found offensive asking her son who is in the 4th grade at Our Redeemer Church and School, 10025 W. North Ave. in Wauwatosa to write "3 "good" reasons for slavery and 3 bad reasons". Brown-Berry apparently wrote an email to her son's teacher Deanna Sapiro who is White complaining about her son's assignment. The assignment post has been shared on Facebook and those reading the class assignment are appalled of what a teacher at a Christian school had assigned to students in the 4th grade.
It seems that Sapiro's class assignment is being viewed in poor taste, racially insensitive and has sparked criticism concerning the assignment for young students.
To many users in FB, there is no good reason for slavery.
Update: On Wednesday, a letter was sent to parents from Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and School administrators apologizing for the class assignment on slavery that was in poor taste.
