Milwaukee, WI - On Tuesday, people who gathered at Voces de la Frontera voted to have another march for a Day Without Latinos, Immigrants and Refugees on Monday, February 13, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m. from 1027 S. 5th St. in an attempt to prevent Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. from partnering with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to designate sheriff deputies under 287g as immigration enforcement agents to enforce immigration laws in the County. Under 287g, Milwaukee County Sheriff deputies would be authorized to check the immigration legal status of individuals suspected of being in the country illegally during traffic stops and investigations.
U.S. President Donald Trump, aka, "Trumpnazi" has revamped the 287g ICE program including the Secure Communities Program (SCP), which ICE issued administrative detainers to hold suspects additional days in jail until ICE could check their legal status in the country. Sheriff Clarke confirmed last Friday that he would comply with Trumpnazi's act to allow state, county and local authorities to enforcement immigration laws under the 287g memorandum agreement with states. Governor Scott Walker (R) would have to consent on the partnership between law enforcement agencies willing to participate in the program with ICE.
A U.S. federal judge has ruled that administrative ICE detainers are not legal warrants to detain an individual. ICE would have to get a court issued warrant to legally hold undocumented suspects while processed at the Milwaukee County jail facility for violations.
City of Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn and the Racine Police Department hace both confirmed that they will not participate in Trumpnazi's revamped 287g program.
The 287g program and the SCP were deemed discriminatory programs, which were abused by law enforcement officers and illegally profiled people.

Update: The march route on February 13th will begin in front of the VDLF offices on S. 5th Street and W. Washington Street and will proceed northbound along S. 5th St., across the 6th Street viaduct (unofficially the Immigrant Crossing S. 6th Street Viaduct) to downtown Milwaukee to the Milwaukee County Court House (MCCH) and end at the MCCH Southside entrance area.

Voces De La Frontera Warned Milwaukee Municipal ID Applicants That Their Info Not Private

Voces de la Frontera is recommending for applicants not to currently seek a Milwaukee Municipal ID because any information provided by undocumented immigrants on the ID application could be made available to the Trumpnazi immigration feds, since it becomes public record.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Friday, Christine Neumann-Ortiz, the executive director of Voces de la Frontera (VDLF) warned undocumented immigrants seeking a Milwaukee Municipal ID to wait from applying for one until arrangements are made with the City of Milwaukee to keep their ID application information private and not made available to the Trumpnazi immigration feds. VDLF is working along with a coalition of groups to privatize the information provided to the City of Milwaukee when applying for a municipal ID.
On Saturday, at a general assembly meeting for VDLF, Alderman José Pérez confirmed that the City of Milwaukee will not file on record which documents were used by ID applicants on their applications due that they are public records. Ald. Pérez says, the City of Milwaukee will follow public records laws, but ID applications  will only show that the ID recipients proved who they are and that they are Milwaukee residents.
Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn also spoke at the VDLF meeting and confirmed that police will not enforce federal immigration laws as Trumpnazi has ordered. The Milwaukee immigrant community will also enjoy the same police services and protection as part of the residents in the City. Chief Flynn says, the Municipal ID's will be accepted as a form of identification and police will not be allowed to question the immigration status of any citizen.
Trumpnazi signed an executive order to continue mass deportations, ban sanctuary cities in the U.S. and to make it a federal criminal offense for helping or aiding an undocumented immigrant.
Trumpnazi vowed to withhold federal funding to cities that allow sanctuary status to protect immigrants from unjust acts by the feds. It is illegal for Trumpnazi to order any withholding of federal funds from cities simply because they won't comply with his illegal acts. The ACLU confirmed that they are ready to file a federal lawsuit against Trumpnazi, if he attempts to withhold any federal funding to sanctuary cities.
California in response to the Trumpnazi threats to withhold federal funding for supporting sanctuary cities is looking into options to withhold all tax contributions to the federal government as well. California is a large tax contributor to the federal government and receives very minimal funding from the feds.

Sarasota County Deputy Frankie Eugene Bybee Charged For Attempted Murder Of An Elderly Woman

Sarasosa County Deputy Eugene Bybee charged with attempted murder, grand theft, forgery and burglary involving a 79-year-old woman.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

January 25, 2017

Sarasosa, Florida - On Monday, Sarasosa County Sheriff Tom Knight announced the arrest of Sarasosa County Deputy Frankie Eugene Bybee, 46, an 18-year sheriff's office employee assigned to the Patrol Bureau, after allegations of harassment led to a criminal investigation and subsequent felony charges, according to a press release. The investigation began on December 20, 2016, and thanks to a team of dedicated detectives, the allegations were quickly and thoroughly reviewed, ultimately leading to Bybee's arrest. Deputy Bybee was booked at the Sarasosa County jail and is facing the following charges:

• Exploitation of the Elderly

• Petit Theft - Forgery

• 2 counts of Grand Theft

• Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling

• Battery On a Victim 65 Years or Older

• Attempted Murder.

A judge set Bybee's bond at $1,033,120.00. He is scheduled for arraignment on February 24th.
Because Bybee has been employed at the sheriff's office for more than 18 years, both the internal affairs and criminal investigations into Bybee's actions will remain open to allow for additional victims to come forward.
"The community should know that the actions of Mr. Bybee are in no way reflective of the nearly 1,000 other men and women who serve the public with honor and integrity," said Sheriff Knight. "It is beyond unacceptable that an individual who works in a position of trust and guardianship to their community, is capable of such heinous crimes. His actions are a disgrace not only to our agency but to law enforcement professionals everywhere. As soon as we learned of these allegations, we took quick action to begin an investigation and in moving forward, will continue to look at the totality of this case. Now that he is off our streets and behind bars, we will let the criminal justice system will take its course."
According to the criminal complaint, Deputy Bybee's actions were first called into question on December 20, 2016, after the 79-year-old woman reported that Bybee was harassing her. An Internal Affairs (IA) investigation quickly revealed that Bybee befriended the victim after responding to her home for a call for service on October 21, 2016. Bybee began making regular visits to the victim's home while on- and off-duty, and also introduced the victim to several members of his family.
As the investigation began, officials learned that Bybee took possession of the victim's dog while she was hospitalized and received a check for $1,000, in the event that the dog had any medical needs while the victim was away. Bybee deposited the money into his personal bank account and later told detectives that he "rehomed" the dog on Craigslist. The victim told detectives that Bybee only had permission to watch the dog while she was away and was not entitled to keep or sell it. Bybee initiated a relationship with the victim for both his personal and financial gain.
On January 9, 2017, an envelope addressed to Bybee was delivered to the agency's main office, located at 2071 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. Within the envelope, detectives seized four checks belonging to the victim, made out to Bybee and his three children for a total of $65,000. When shown the checks, the victim stated she did not address or sign them. Bybee was immediately placed on administrative leave. A forensic analysis led latent print examiners to the discovery of Bybee's fingerprint on one of the checks.
Three days later, on January 12, patrol deputies were called to the victim's home where she reported Bybee entered her unlocked front door while wearing dark clothing and blue latex gloves. Bybee mounted the victim and while holding her down, forced prescription medication in her mouth, causing lacerations and abrasions to her face, and bruising to her body. The victim lost consciousness and when she awoke, summoned help. It was determined that her home filled with carbon monoxide after the internal door to her garage was left open and her car was left running. The investigation revealed that Deputy Bybee attempted to kill the victim and make it appear to be a suicide.
On April 2015, Deputy Bybee filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Knight including Conley RV Inc. after he was demoted from detective, according to the Herald-Tribune. The Herald-Tribune reported, that Deputy Bybee alleged in the lawsuit that he was demoted from detective to patrol deputy in 2014 after speaking poorly of Conley RV Inc. in a TV interview concerning his RV, which was left unlucked and was damaged at Conley RV Inc. Bybee contends that Knight was contacted by the Conleys - who he claims are political supporters of Knight - and that they conspired to punish him.
"A political supporter has been vilified in the public eye with truthful information that Frank gave about how his RV was mishandled," Bybee's attorney, Craig Berman, told the Herald-Tribune. "That's why (Knight) came down so hard on Frank."
Bybee was seeking payment for damages of more than $15,000 in the civil suit filed against Knight, Jeffrey Conley, Roger Conley and Conley RV Inc., according to the Herald-Tribune report.

"Wisconsin Works for Everyone" Unveiled By Governor Walker To Extend Work Requirements For People Receiving FoodShare And Housing Assistance

Governor Walker's proposal extends "work requirements for those able-bodied adults with school-age children who are receiving FoodShare, as well as to able-bodied adults receiving housing assistance."

January 23, 2017

Madison, WI - On Monday, Governor Scott Walker (R) announced in a press release that a proposal will extend work requirements for able-bodied people on state public assistance. Governor Walker introduced the "Wisconsin Works for Everyone," a welfare reform package expanding upon initiatives enacted into law by Governor Tommy Thompson in 1996. Walker is promoting his proposal in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Eau Claire, and Madison and will also be joined by Governor Thompson in Madison.
"Wisconsin Works for Everyone, like Governor Thompson's original W-2 initiative, is based on the fundamental principle that work is dignifying and connects individuals to society and to its values," said Governor Walker. "We believe our public assistance programs should ask able-bodied adults to take steps toward self-sufficiency through work, while also providing comprehensive tools to help them get and keep a job. The Wisconsin Works for Everyone proposal we're introducing today includes reforms to ensure that programs serve as springboards to self-sufficiency, not just mechanisms for alleviating material hardship."
Wisconsin Works for Everyone, which will be included in Governor Walker's budget proposal this coming February, seeks to extend work requirements to able-bodied adults with school-age children who are receiving FoodShare, as well as to able-bodied adults receiving housing assistance. Just like Governor Thompson's reforms, these initial changes would take place on a pilot basis.
"In 1996, I was proud to lead a national movement to transform welfare as we knew it in Wisconsin," Governor Thompson said. "Our W-2 reform was a resounding success, and Governor Walker is promoting a natural continuation of those efforts today. I have no doubt Wisconsin Works for Everyone will help break the cycle of dependence on government programs here in Wisconsin and serve as an example of successful reform for states throughout the nation."
Governor Walker's full proposal will increase investment in job and skills training for the unemployed and underemployed, reduce barriers to work and increased earnings, and expand programs that incentivize employment. Where flexibility is needed, it will also aggressively seek federal waivers under a new incoming administration to encourage work and enhance self-sufficiency, including to pilot work requirements for working-age, able-bodied adults receiving housing vouchers.
As part of the proposal, job training programs will be significantly expanded for the unemployed or underemployed receiving FoodShare, the incarcerated and ex-offenders, and low-income noncustodial parents involved in the child support system.
Additionally, barriers to work will be addressed through reforms that reduce occupational licensing and eliminate the benefits cliff in child care subsidies, which can leave families financially worse off if they take a raise or work more hours. Barriers to work would also be eliminated for those enrolled in the Medicaid Purchase Plan (MAPP), by removing the premium cliff as people transition into earning more income.
Wisconsin Works for Everyone will also expand programs that incentivize and reward employment by establishing an earned-income tax credit groups who often struggle to connect with work, including young adults aging out of foster care, as well as those who exit the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) child disability program at age 18.
"This set of initiatives is focused on helping those disconnected from employment realize their potential in the workforce," Governor Walker added. "We have every intention of leading the nation when it comes to helping people create better lives for themselves and their families through work, just like Governor Thompson. Looking forward, we will take every opportunity to facilitate our citizens' success in Wisconsin's workforce."
Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson (R) released the following statement on his Facebook account, "Nearly 21 Years ago, I signed the transformative Wisconsin Works (W-2) into law.  W-2 became the blueprint for welfare reform adopted by states across our country, and was eventually used as the model for the federal effort signed into law by President Clinton.  Today, I was honored to join Governor Scott Walker for a press conference in the State Capital, as he looks to build upon the proud legacy of W-2 with Wisconsin Works for Everyone.  Wisconsin Works for Everyone will be a part of the coming budget embracing the belief that everyone wants to work, and helps tear down barriers, while providing key assistance in areas like housing, child care, offender reentry, employer resource networks."
Governor Walker is also working to get able-bodied people in any type of state public assistance to take a drug test so, that they can get back into the work force in good health. Walker has been criticized for not creating jobs, which offer a competitive living wage, especially for people with dependent children on some type of public assistance.
Walker and the Republican controlled legislature are not in favor of raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour to provide an affordable living wage for state residents in poverty.
If state public assistance recipients fail to meet the new extended work requirements, they will be removed from the FoodShare and housing assistance programs, according to Walker.

President Donald J. Trump And Vice-President Mike Pence Take Office At White House

Both Trump and Pence were sworned into office.

January 20, 2017

Washington, D.C. - On Friday, Donald J. Trump became the 45th President and Mike Pence, the 48th Vice-President of the U.S. Soon after taking office, thousands of people began to stage protests against the anticipated Trump agenda throughout the country.
Trump's speech was focused on America First, law enforcement and patriotism similar to Adolf Hitler's patriotic speech when he became a Nazi government leader. Trump didn't mention equality of rights nor a health care plan for everyone including the mass deportations and border wall that he promised while on the campaign trail.
Jill Stein, the Presidential candidate for the Green Party says, that Trump promised to return power to the people on his Presidential speech, but his Cabinet appointments shows that the power now rests not on the lobbyists, but to the CEO's themselves. Trump promised to drain the swamp, but he has now flooded the swamp with bankers, Corporate CEO's, Wall Street executives and the military who will be running the country. He said that our wealth and jobs were stolen by foreign countries, but in fact it is the economic elite and multi-corporations around the world that are stealing all of our wealth and jobs, water, climate and our future.
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (Dem.-Vermont) stated, "Today is going to be a tough day for millions of Americans including myself. Our response has got to be not to throw up our hands in despair, not to give up, but in fact to fight back as effectively and as vigorously as we can. Our job is to keep our eyes on the prize, and the prize is that we will continue fighting for a government that represents all of us and not just the 1% (who own most the U.S. wealth). We're going to go forward in the fight for economic, social, environmental and racial justice. That's who we are. That's what we're going to do. We are not giving up...We must vigorously defend DACA and the young people in that program. We must continue the fight for comprehensive immigration reform and a path toward citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants."

Standing Up For Our Law Enforcement Community

One of the fundamental rights of every American is to live in a safe community. A Trump Administration will empower our law enforcement officers to do their jobs and keep our streets free of crime and violence. The Trump Administration will be a law and order administration. President Trump will honor our men and women in uniform and will support their mission of protecting the public. The dangerous anti-police atmosphere in America is wrong. The Trump Administration will end it.

The Trump Administration is committed to reducing violent crime. In 2015, homicides increased by 17% in America’s fifty largest cities. That’s the largest increase in 25 years. In our nation’s capital, killings have risen by 50 percent. There were thousands of shootings in Chicago last year alone.

Our country needs more law enforcement, more community engagement, and more effective policing.

Our job is not to make life more comfortable for the rioter, the looter, or the violent disrupter. Our job is to make life more comfortable for parents who want their kids to be able to walk the streets safely. Or the senior citizen waiting for a bus. Or the young child walking home from school.

Supporting law enforcement means supporting our citizens’ ability to protect themselves. We will uphold Americans’ Second Amendment rights at every level of our judicial system.
President Trump is committed to building a border wall to stop illegal immigration, to stop the gangs and the violence, and to stop the drugs from pouring into our communities. He is dedicated to enforcing our border laws, ending sanctuary cities, and stemming the tide of lawlessness associated with illegal immigration.
Supporting law enforcement also means deporting illegal aliens with violent criminal records who have remained within our borders.
It is the first duty of government to keep the innocent safe, and President Donald Trump will fight for the safety of every American, and especially those Americans who have not known safe neighborhoods for a very long time.

The following is Trump's full speech during his inauguration;

"Chief Justice Roberts, President Carter, President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, fellow Americans, and people of the world: thank you."

"We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and to restore its promise for all of our people.

"Together, we will determine the course of America and the world for years to come.

"We will face challenges. We will confront hardships. But we will get the job done.

"Every four years, we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power, and we are grateful to President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition. They have been magnificent.

"Today's ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People.

"For too long, a small group in our nation's Capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost.

"Washington flourished – but the people did not share in its wealth.

"Politicians prospered – but the jobs left, and the factories closed.

"The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country.

"Their victories have not been your victories; their triumphs have not been your triumphs; and while they celebrated in our nation's Capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.

"That all changes – starting right here, and right now, because this moment is your moment: it belongs to you.

"It belongs to everyone gathered here today and everyone watching all across America.

"This is your day. This is your celebration.

"And this, the United States of America, is your country.

"What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people.

"January 20th 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.

"The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer.

"Everyone is listening to you now.

"You came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement the likes of which the world has never seen before.

"At the center of this movement is a crucial conviction: that a nation exists to serve its citizens.

"Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families, and good jobs for themselves.

"These are the just and reasonable demands of a righteous public.

"But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system, flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of knowledge; and the crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential.

"This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.

"We are one nation – and their pain is our pain.  Their dreams are our dreams; and their success will be our success.  We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny.

"The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans.

"For many decades, we've enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry;

"Subsidized the armies of other countries while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military;

"We've defended other nation's borders while refusing to defend our own;

"And spent trillions of dollars overseas while America's infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay.

"We've made other countries rich while the wealth, strength, and confidence of our country has disappeared over the horizon.

"One by one, the factories shuttered and left our shores, with not even a thought about the millions upon millions of American workers left behind.

"The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed across the entire world.

"But that is the past. And now we are looking only to the future.

"We assembled here today are issuing a new decree to be heard in every city, in every foreign capital, and in every hall of power.

"From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land.

"From this moment on, it's going to be America First.

"Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families.

"We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies, and destroying our jobs.  Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength.

"I will fight for you with every breath in my body – and I will never, ever let you down.

"America will start winning again, winning like never before.

"We will bring back our jobs. We will bring back our borders.  We will bring back our wealth.  And we will bring back our dreams.

"We will build new roads, and highways, and bridges, and airports, and tunnels, and railways all across our wonderful nation.

"We will get our people off of welfare and back to work – rebuilding our country with American hands and American labor.

"We will follow two simple rules: Buy American and Hire American.

"We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world – but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first.

"We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example for everyone to follow.

"We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones – and unite the civilized world against Radical Islamic Terrorism, which we will eradicate completely from the face of the Earth.

"At the bedrock of our politics will be a total allegiance to the United States of America, and through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other.

"When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice.

"The Bible tells us, "how good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity."

"We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity.

"When America is united, America is totally unstoppable.

"There should be no fear – we are protected, and we will always be protected.

"We will be protected by the great men and women of our military and law enforcement and, most importantly, we are protected by God.

"Finally, we must think big and dream even bigger.

"In America, we understand that a nation is only living as long as it is striving.

"We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action – constantly complaining but never doing anything about it.

"The time for empty talk is over.

"Now arrives the hour of action.

"Do not let anyone tell you it cannot be done.  No challenge can match the heart and fight and spirit of America.

"We will not fail. Our country will thrive and prosper again.

"We stand at the birth of a new millennium, ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the Earth from the miseries of disease, and to harness the energies, industries and technologies of tomorrow.

"A new national pride will stir our souls, lift our sights, and heal our divisions.

"It is time to remember that old wisdom our soldiers will never forget: that whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots, we all enjoy the same glorious freedoms, and we all salute the same great American Flag.

"And whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the windswept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they fill their heart with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of life by the same almighty Creator.

"So to all Americans, in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, and from ocean to ocean, hear these words:

"You will never be ignored again.

"Your voice, your hopes, and your dreams, will define our American destiny. And your courage and goodness and love will forever guide us along the way.

"Together, We Will Make America Strong Again.

"We Will Make America Wealthy Again.

"We Will Make America Proud Again.

"We Will Make America Safe Again.

"And, Yes, Together, We Will Make America Great Again. Thank you, God Bless You, And God Bless America."

Feds Indicted Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera With 17-counts For Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime, Murder, Weapons And Money Laundering

Guzmán Loera is facing two consecutive life term sentences, if convicted on all federal charges, according to feds.

Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

January 20, 2017

Brooklyn, New York - On Friday, Joaquín Archivaldo "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera, 59, was arraigned on a 17-count superseding indictment before U.S. Magistrate Judge James Orenstein in a federal court in Brooklyn. If convicted on all counts, Guzmán Loera is facing two consecutive life term sentences in a federal prison. The case is assigned to U.S. District Judge Brian M. Cogan. Following his extradition on Thursday to the United States on related charges filed in the Western District of Texas and Southern District of California, the Mexican government approved a request by the United States to proceed with prosecution on the charges filed against Guzmán Loera in the Eastern District of New York on May 11, 2016 as long as he wouldn't face the death penalty, according to a joint press release by Acting U.S. Attorney General Sally Q. Yates and U.S. Attorney Robert L. Capers of the Eastern District of New York; U.S. Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer of the Southern District of Florida; Deputy Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Blanco of the Justice Department's Criminal Division; Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA); Executive Associate Director Peter T. Edge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); Assistant Director In Charge William F. Sweeney of the FBI New York Field Office: U.S. Marshal Charles G. Dunne of the Eastern District of New York U.S. Marshals Service and Commissioner of the New York City Police Department James P. O'Neill.
The charges in the indictment filed against Guzmán Loera in the Eastern District of New York will be prosecuted jointly by the U.S. Attorney's Offices in Brooklyn and Miami and the Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section of the Criminal Division.
The federal indictment alleges that between January 1989 and December 2014, Guzmán Loera led a continuing criminal enterprise responsible for importing into the United States and distributing massive amounts of illegal narcotics and conspiring to murder persons who posed a threat to Guzmán Loera's narcotics enterprise.
Guzmán Loera is also charged with using firearms in relation to his drug trafficking and money laundering relating to the bulk smuggling from the United States to Mexico of more than $14 billion in cash proceeds from narcotics sales throughout the United States and Canada. As part of this investigation, nearly 200,000 kilograms of cocaine linked to the Sinaloa Cartel have been seized. The indictment seeks forfeiture of more than $14 billion in drug proceeds and illicit profits.
"Guzmán Loera is accused of using violence, including torture and murder, to maintain an iron-fisted grip on the drug trade across the U.S./Mexico border that invaded our community and others across the country," said U.S. Attorney Capers. "As a result, Guzmán Loera made billions of illicit dollars. This prosecution demonstrates that we will apply all available resources to dismantle the leadership of dangerous drug cartels, wherever they operate, and will not rest until we have done so."
"Guzmán Loera is accused of terrorizing communities all over the world," said U.S. Attorney Ferrer. "With this prosecution we stand united, with our domestic and foreign partners, in our fight against transnational criminal organizations that profit billions of dollars off of the toxic spread of illicit drugs in our global communities. Today's announcement demonstrates that international borders do not protect narcotics traffickers from criminal prosecution. We will continue to work together to combat narco-trafficking and the cartels that infect our streets, with the long-arm of the law."
As detailed in the superseding indictment and other court filings, Guzmán Loera and Ismael Zambada Garcia, as leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, conspired to import more than 200 metric tons of cocaine into the United States. The Sinaloa Cartel shared drug transportation routes and obtained drugs from various Colombian drug trafficking organizations, in particular, the Colombian Norte del Valle Cartel, the Don Lucho Organization, and the Cifuentes-Villa Organization. The cocaine was transported from Colombia via planes, boats, and submarines into ports the enterprise controlled in Southern Mexico and other locations throughout Central America. From there, it was shipped through Mexico to distribution hubs in the United States.
As one of the principal leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, Guzmán Loera allegedly also oversaw the cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and marijuana smuggling activities by the Sinaloa Cartel to wholesale distributors in Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, New York, as well as in various locations in Arizona, Los Angeles and elsewhere. The billions of dollars generated from drug sales in the United States were then clandestinely transported back to Mexico.
To evade law enforcement and protect the enterprise's narcotics distribution activities, Guzmán Loera and the Sinaloa Cartel allegedly employed various means including the use of "sicarios," or hit men, who carried out hundreds of acts of violence in Mexico, including murder, to collect drug debts, silence potential witnesses, and prevent public officials from taking action against the cartel. To intimidate and eliminate his rivals, during the Sinaloa Cartel's internecine war for territory with the Juarez Cartel from approximately 2007 through 2011, Guzmán Loera directed these assassins to kill thousands of drug trafficking competitors, during which many of his victims were beheaded.
The government's case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrea Goldbarg, Hiral Mehta, Patricia Notopoulos, Gina Parlovecchio and Michael Robotti from the Eastern District of New York; Assistant U.S. Attorneys Adam Fels, Lynn Kirkpatrick and Kurt Lunkenheimer from the Southern District of Florida; and Trial Attorneys Amanda Liskamm, Anthony Nardozzi and Michael Lang of the Criminal Division's Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section.
The case was investigated by the DEA, ICE and the FBI, in cooperation with Mexican and Colombian law enforcement authorities. Substantial assistance was provided by the U.S. Attorney's Offices in the Northern District of Illinois, the Western District of Texas, the Southern District of New York, the Southern District of California, and the District of New Hampshire. The Department of Justice's Office of International Affairs also provided assistance in bringing Guzmán Loera to the United States to face charges. The investigative efforts in this case were coordinated with the Department of Justice's Special Operations Division, comprising agents, analysts, and attorneys from the Criminal Division's Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section, DEA, FBI, ICE, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, and the New York State Police, according to the joint press release by Acting U.S. Attorney General Yates and others.

New York City, New York - On Thursday, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzmán Loera, 62, the Sinaloa Cartel drug lord was extradited to the U.S. from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, according to the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE). Guzmán Loera was transported by U.S. federal agents from the DEA and the U.S. Marshals Service to New York where he will face a federal judge for an indictment accusing Guzmán Loera of drug trafficking, torture, organized crime, murder and money laundering. If convicted on all counts, Guzmán Loera is facing up to life in a federal prison.
The U.S. Department of Justice says that Guzmán Loera is charged with 6 different federal indictments throughout the U.S. Guzmán Loera will be booked and processed at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, a federal prison in Manhattan, New York.
According to the Mexican federal Assistant Attorney General Alberto Elías Beltran, Guzmán Loera after completing his sentence, once convicted in the U.S., he will be deported back to Mexico where Guzmán Loera has 10 federal cases pending against him for money laundering, organized crime and drug trafficking. Beltran confirmed that Guzmán Loera was turned over to U.S. federal authorities around 3:25 p.m. at the International Airport in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, MX and immediately flown to the U.S.
Guzmán Loera was taken into custody in the city of Los Mochis in the state of Sinaloa in January 2016 by Mexican military police.
A $5M reward was offered by the U.S. and $3M by the Mexican government. The U.S. filed an extradition request for Guzmán Loera with the Mexican government.
Guzmán Loera had been held at the federal Altiplano prison where he previously escaped from and in May 2016 was transferred to a prison in Juarez where he awaited for the extradition process to take its course. Monterrey, Nuevo León, México - On Wednesday just before 9:00 a.m., Federico Fernando Guevara Elizondo, 15, a student at the Northeast American High School (Colegio) located South of Monterrey apparently took out a .22 Long Rifle Caliber handgun from his school backpack and shot three fellow students and a teacher in the classroom. The injured students were identified as Cecilia Diaz Ramos, 14, (shot in the head); Manuel Chávez, 15, (shot in the arm); Luis Fernándo Ramirez González, 14, (shot in the skull) and a teacher, Cecilia Christina Solis, 24, (shot in the skull). Elizondo also tired to shoot himself in the head, but the gun misfires and he reloads it again and then shot himself from the lower chin. The suspect drops from the gunshot wound and the rest of the students in the classroom are then able to escape while those injured students and the teacher remained in the classroom floor.
Elizondo was taken to a local hospital where he later died from the self-inflicted wound (the bullet entered his lower chin and traveled up to his head). Two of the injured students and Solis are listed in critical condition and a third student was wounded in the arm. All of those reported injured are expected to survive.
Elizondo suffered from depression and was undergoing treatment, according to Mexican authorities.
According to police sources in Monterrey, Elizondo is the son of Carlos Guevara, the head of the personal body guard security unit for Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, aka, "El Bronco" the Mayor of Monterrey. Mexican Ministry authorities have obtained a warrant and searched Elizondo's home for evidence concerning the school shooting.
According to a Facebook (FB) posting that surfaced from Elizondo dated the night before the shooting in a closed group called "Legion Holk," he warned certain friends from school not to show up on Wednesday because he was going to engage in a school massacre. At least 80 FB users knew about the intended shooting by Elizondo on Tuesday night and 37 comments were posted on Elizondo's FB account under the name "Fede Guevara." None of the FB users contacted authorities or school officials to prevent the shooting.
In a WhatsApp message on Tuesday afternoon around 5:07 p.m., Elizondo messaged Alex Villarreal not to show up for classes on Wednesday as well. Several other friends responded as well to the massage.
Apparently, Mexican authorities are investigating whether some of his immediate friends were implicated or conspired with Elizondo to commit the shooting at the school.
In another FB posting, Juan Pablo posted on the Legion Holk that he and others helped plan the school shooting and donations collected between them were made to buy the weapon for Elizondo as a group. Pablo says, that Elizondo was picked by the group for the intended crime.

Thousands Of Criminal Cubans Will Be Deported After Obama Ended Wet foot, Dry foot Policy

Obama on Thursday ended the Cuban refugee policy to grant residency for Cubans who set foot on U.S. soil.

By H. Nelson Goodson
Hispanic News Network U.S.A.

January 13, 2017

Washington, D.C. - On Thursday, President Barack H. Obama ended the Cuban refugee policy known was "wet foot, dry foot" practice to grant Cuban refugees residency when they stepped on U.S. soil and to return refugees back to Cuba, if they were rescued on U.S. territorial waters. According to Obama, all undocumented Cubans that enter the U.S. illegally as of Friday, will be subject for deportation and considered undocumented like any other undocumented immigrant in the U.S.
Thousands of Cubans convicted of criminal offenses with immigration deportation orders will now be subject to deported back to Cuba. The Cuban government has agreed to accept any Cuban that has been deported from the U.S., according to Obama.
Obama's full statement released on Thursday concerning the Cuban immigration policy.  "Today, the United States is taking important steps forward to normalize relations with Cuba and to bring greater consistency to our immigration policy. The Department of Homeland Security is ending the so-called "wet-foot/dry foot" policy, which was put in place more than twenty years ago and was designed for a different era.  Effective immediately, Cuban nationals who attempt to enter the United States illegally and do not qualify for humanitarian relief will be subject to removal, consistent with U.S. law and enforcement priorities.  By taking this step, we are treating Cuban migrants the same way we treat migrants from other countries. The Cuban government has agreed to accept the return of Cuban nationals who have been ordered removed, just as it has been accepting the return of migrants interdicted at sea.
"Today, the Department of Homeland Security is also ending the Cuban Medical Professional Parole Program.  The United States and Cuba are working together to combat diseases that endanger the health and lives of our people. By providing preferential treatment to Cuban medical personnel, the medical parole program contradicts those efforts, and risks harming the Cuban people.  Cuban medical personnel will now be eligible to apply for asylum at U.S. embassies and consulates around the world, consistent with the procedures for all foreign nationals.
"The United States, a land of immigrants, has been enriched by the contributions of Cuban-Americans for more than a century.  Since I took office, we have put the Cuban-American community at the center of our policies. With this change we will continue to welcome Cubans as we welcome immigrants from other nations, consistent with our laws.   During my Administration, we worked to improve the lives of the Cuban people - inside of Cuba - by providing them with greater access to resources, information and connectivity to the wider world. Sustaining that approach is the best way to ensure that Cubans can enjoy prosperity, pursue reforms, and determine their own destiny. As I said in Havana, the future of Cuba should be in the hands of the Cuban people."
During the Presidential election 2016, many Cubans in Florida supported Donald Trump and voted for him. Other Cubans in Florida mocked undocumented Mexican nationals and called for Trump to deport them and to build a wall. Now, the Cuban population in the U.S. is subject for deportation as well, if they don't seek U.S. citizenship.
All Cubans with immigration deportation orders will be deported, according to Obama.
GOP members in Congress had been working to end the Cuban political refugee policy, but Obama decided to end the wet foot, dry foot policy before leaving office.
Thousands of Cuban refugees in South and Central America awaiting for Mexico to grant them a temporary visa to reach the U.S. border will no longer be accepted as political refugees in the U.S.

But due to a guilty plead agreement in the criminal case, Aponte-Santiago will actually only serve at least 24 years in prison and 16 years probation for 11 felony counts for armed robbery and one felony count for 1st-degree endangering safety in connection with multiple armed robberies. In December, Aponte-Santiago was ordered to pay $2,797 in restitution to victims including employees and customers of establishments that he robbed.
According to the criminal complaint, at least 30 victims came forward and identified the Kleptorobber as Aponte-Santiago, who for several weeks terrorized local businesses in January 2016 by robbing them including patrons, in several occasions discharged his weapon inside bars, was wanted for an armed carjacking and shooting a 22-year-old Denny's waiter. His last armed robbery happened at Chivas Bar, 644 S. 9th Street around 2:20 a.m. on January 31. The suspect drank several beers, robbed the bar including the patrons, then fired at least three gunshots at a camera surveillance monitor missing a bartender by one inch and then fled. No one was injured.
Police told the Chivas Bar owner that his bar's surveillance footage of the armed robbery was clear and very instrumental in arresting Aponte-Santiago.
Aponte-Santiago allegedly robbed the Backdraught Bar at the 3600 block of S. Clement Ave., the Last Drop Restaurant at the 1900 block of S. 15th Street and Reynas Bar at the 600 block of W. Harrison in the Southside. About 14 patrons were inside Reynas Bar at the time of the robbery.
Aponte-Santiago not only robbed the cash register at businesses, but customers too, according to business patrons.
On January 28, Aponte-Santiago walked into a Denny's Restaurant at the 4900 block of S. Howell Ave. around 3:15 a.m. and stole an undetermined amount of money from the cash register. Aponte-Santiago also shot a 22-year-old victim who works at Denny's as a waiter and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound, according to police.
At least ten people were inside the restaurant at the time of the robbery. Aponte-Santiago shot the 22-year-old waiter in the arm and then left. The victim worked for tips and Aponte-Santiago took $150.00 from him, according to the victim's mother. Rosarito, Baja California, México - On Saturday, Alfredo Alvarez, a local Mexican journalist reported while live streaming on his Facebook (FB) account that the San Ysidro International Border crossing into Mexico was closed by the U.S. and diverted congested traffic to the Otay International Border crossing due to major protests by Mexican nationals against the increase of PEMEX gasoline prices. In the Alvarez live stream video, Federal Police, municipal police from Rosario and Tijuana, the Ministry police and other agencies managed to take control of the main Boulevard to the PEMEX Plant No.5 gasoline refinery and kept protesters from preventing fuel transport trucks to exit the refinery.
According to Alvarez, at least 226 gas stations in Rosarito have no gas available as of Saturday night and warned his FB followers to stay home because of a shortage of gasoline and to use public transport when possible.
Mexican authorities brought in barricades to block the Boulevard and entrance to the refinery in Rosarito and to keep protesters from blocking the back exit of gasoline trucks from the refinery.
Police escorts of fuel trucks will be provided through a back road avoiding the protesters, according to Alvarez.
