Milwaukee, WI - Jonatan Zuniga, a recent University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee graduate announced his bid to become the next Milwaukee School Board member representing the 6th District, where a predominantly Hispanic population resides. Zuniga submitted his nominations papers with at least 650 petition signatures to get his name on the ballot.
Zuniga is facing a challenger, longtime educator including one of the foremost creators of the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) district Bilingual program and civil rights advocate Tony Baez who is a Consultant on Education and Latino Issues and former President and CEO for the Council for the Spanish Speaking (Centro Hispano). Baez confirmed that he was also seeking to become the next MPS school board member and his name will be on the April 2017 Spring Election ballot.
The current MPS Board member for the 6th District Tataina Joseph is not seeking re-election in 2017.
