Second Suspect, 18-year-old Raymond King Charged In Connection With Sildian E. Torres, 27, Homicide On Christmas Eve

King was identified as the driver and criminally charged with reckless homicide and party to a crime in connection with the Christmas Eve murder of 27-year-old Torres at S. 29th Street and W. Greenfield Ave.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Tuesday, Raymond King, 18, was charged with three felony counts for 1st-degree reckless homicide including party to a crime (PTAC) and two counts for 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety including party to a crime in connection with the Christmas Eve homicide of Sildian E. Torres, 27, in the Southside of Milwaukee. Torres was fatally shot in the back while driving her vehicle near the 1300 block of S. 29 Street. She was struck in the left backside of her body.

If convicted, King is facing up to 60 years in prison for reckless homicide PTAC, and is also facing up to 12 years and 6 months in prison and up to $25,000 in fines for each recklessly endangering safety PTAC count. A cash bail of $75,000 was set for King.

In January 4, 2023, Omarion DeAngelo Danielson, 18, the alleged shooter was charged with three felony counts for 1st-degree reckless homicide and two counts for 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety in connection with the Torres homicide. 

If convicted, Danielson is facing up to 60 years in prison for reckless homicide, and is also facing up to 12 years and 6 months in prison and up to $25,000 in fines for each recklessly endangering safety count. A cash bail of $300,000 was set for Danielson.

According to the criminal complaint, Danielson and King had gotten into a brief verbal altercation with a group of individuals at the Scott's Beer and Food store located at S. 33 St. and W. Scott Street. They all went outside and Danielson believed the individuals were armed so, he fired at least 10 gunshots blindly at them from the front passenger's window in the vehicle he was traveling and King was driving a Black Taurus.

Torres was driving to her mother's house at the time she was fatally struck by gunfire. In the vehicle with Torres was her husband who was seating in the passenger side and her young son who was seating in the back seat.

Police were able to connect Danielson and King to the Torres homicide by video surveillance camera footage inside the food store and spent cartridges at both crime scenes.

After the shooting, Danielson and King went to a pizza place to eat.

De la Torre died from gunshot wounds, according to Milwaukee police.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Monday, Milwaukee police confirmed that they are seeking a suspect(s) in connection with the homicide of Rigoberto De la Torre, 20, in the Southside of Milwaukee.

On Sunday, January 8, 2023 at around 1:39 p.m., police responded to the 3800 block of W. Morgan Ave. and found De la Torre shot. De la Torre succumbed to his gunshot injuries at the scene. The homicide investigation is ongoing, according to police.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Thursday, a Black Milwaukee police officer and a second officer from police district 2 station internationally used their Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) SUV police squads #229 and #511 spotlights to blind a 42-year-old Black news blogger who was video recording a homicide investigation at S. 15th Street and W. Becher Street.

Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) on Sunday contacted the 42-year-old Black news blogger from Hard Stack Street Magazine (HSSM) to get information concerning the unprecedented reason why several MPD officers used spotlights from their police SUV squads to internationally blind him from publicly video record at the homicide scene without interfering with the ongoing investigation. 

The 42-year-old HSSM blogger told HNNUSA that he had no idea why the MPD officers kept shining a light on him as he video record the homicide investigation from across the street and a sidewalk, which he said the crime scene was taped off, but not covered to keep anyone from video recording what's visible to the public eye. The HSSM blogger confirmed that he never crossed over the crime scene tape and kept a distance while video recording a 16 minute blogging news video on Facebook live. He also has a hardstackstreetmag dot com web page.

One of the MPD officers got out of the police SUV police squad #229 and used his spotlight to internationally blind the HSSM blogger who was across the street, and the second officer seating in his unit #511 next to the duplex of the investigation also shined his spotlight too, according to the HSSM blogger.

The two unidentified MPD officers from District 2 must have some issues and shouldn't be on the street, especially when they use their badges and authority to unconstitutionally block any alternative or mainstream media from video recording a crime scene when it is in full view of the public. 

Also, HNNUSA learned that the TMJ 4 News crew had the same thing done intentionally to them by a Milwaukee police officer on January 23, 2023 at an incident site, which  they were blinded by light. TMJ 4 News reported the mishap to Milwaukee Police administration and are currently looking at the incident.

In Wisconsin and throughout the U.S., anyone or the mainstream media including alternative news bloggers have a First Amendment Constitutional right to video record local police while on duty and investigating a crime scene as long as they don't interfere with the investigation or cross beyond a crime scene tape barrier.

Apparently, both MPD police officers lack any Constitutional knowledge and First Amendment rights afforded to citizens, mainstream media and alternative news bloggers while publicly video recording police at crime scenes that the public can view and is not a restrictive zone.

Southside crime scene: On Thursday, January 26, 2023, at around 8:00 p.m., Milwaukee police responded to shots fired at the 2100 block of S. 15th Street. When they arrived, they found Jeanette Jimenez, 59, with fatal gunshots wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are looking for a suspect(s) in the homicide.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Thursday, January 26, 2023, at around 8:00 p.m., Milwaukee police responded to shots fired at the 2100 block of S. 15th Street. When they arrived, they found Jeanette Jimenez, 59, with fatal gunshots wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police are looking for a suspect(s) in the homicide.

On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at around 9:02 a.m., police responded to shots fired at the 700 block of W. Becher St. and found a 27-year-old man injured. He was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment for non-fatal injuries.

Also on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at around 2:30 a.m., police say a 53-year-old man was shot at the 1500 block of W. Washington St. The victim drove himself to a local hospital for treatment of a non-fatal gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, January 22, 2023, at around 4:56 p.m., police responded to the 1800 block of Grant Street and found a 35-year-old female and a 16-year-old female suffering with non-fatal gunshot wounds. The 35-year-old woman was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment and the 16-year-old victim refused treatment.

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, at around 3:32 a.m., police responded to the 3400 block of W. National Ave. and found a 33-year-old male with non-fatal gunshot wounds. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital for treatment.

On Friday, January 13, 2023, at around 4:45 p.m., a 33-year-old man was shot during an argument. The victim arrived at a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries, according to police.

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at around 2:00 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot at 2700 block of S. 16th Street and he arrived at a local hospital for non-fatal gunshot injuries, police reported.

On Monday, January 9, 2023, at around 11:18 p.m., a 47-year-old man was shot at the 2400 block of S. 8th St. The victim was conveyed to a local hospital fir non-fatal gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, January 8, 2023 at around 11:50 p.m., police responded to the 1000 block of S. 3rd Street and found a 20-year-old Neimah Jones fatally shot. Police arrested a 22-year-old man for obstruction in the domestic violence dispute incident and charges are pending. 

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating Jones fatal shooting as a possible suicide and police have an ongoing shooting investigation related to an alleged domestic violence dispute incident.

On Sunday, January 8, 2023 at around 1:39 p.m., police responded to the 3800 block of W. Morgan Ave. and found Rigoberto De la Torre, 20, shot. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The homicide investigation is ongoing.

On January 7, 2023, at around 5:00 a.m., police say a 42-year-old man was shot at the 1600 block of W. Greenfield Ave. and he arrived at a local hospital for non-fatal gunshot injuries.

On Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at around 7:50 p.m. a 33-year-old man from Oak Creek was shot at the 2100 block of W. Maple St.

After the shooting, the victim arrived at a local hospital with non-fatal injuries seeking treatment. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the shooting incident.

On Sunday, January 1, 2023, at around 5:55 a.m., police reported that a 33-year-old man was critically injured by gunfire at the 1600 block of W. Grant Street and was conveyed to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday, January 1, 2023, at around 2:48 a.m., a 27-year-old female sustained a non-fatal gunshot and a 26-year-old man sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound at the 600 block of S. 5th Street and both injured victims were conveyed to a local hospital for treatment.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On January 20, 2023, Milwaukee Police Officer Martinese McDaniel, 30, was charged with two felony counts for child abuse-recklessly cause great harm to a child. If convicted, McDaniel is facing up to 15 years in prison and up to $50,000 in fines for each count. McDaniel remains free on a $5,000 cash bond.

According to the criminal complaint, on January 14, McDaniel and his girlfriend, the mother of a 10-month-old girl called 911 after her child couldn't breath. McDaniels was babysitting the toddler when she couldn't breath and he administered CPR and she began the breath again. Later, the child was taken to Children's Hospital for treatment and doctors found signs of child abuse. The toddler had bruises in her chest, a bleeding laceration and other bruises in her legs and arms.

McDaniel was suspended pending the outcome of the case.

On January 19, 2023, Travis Jung, 37, an off-duty Milwaukee Police Detective was taken into custody near the Black Swan MKE in the Third Ward District after a woman who was at the Black Swan attending a police recreation league gala allegedly complained that Jung groped her buttocks and vagina without her consent. Jung left the venue and was arrested outside of the venue at the 300 block of N. Water Street.

Jung is facing a Class A misdemeanor charge for 4th-degree sexaul assault. If convicted, Jung is facing up to 9-months in jail and up to $10,000 in fines.

According to the woman, she felt a slap in her buttocks and then felt Jung's hand go under her clothes and touch her vagina area.

The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) confirmed that Jung has been in the department for 15 years.

Jung was booked in the Milwaukee County jail and later released on a $250.00 cash bond and has been fully suspended from the MPD until the outcome of the criminal case. The MPD is also conducting an internal investigation.

In an unrelated incident, off-duty Milwaukee Police Officer Rodney Albernathy Jr., 29, was taken into custody on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 around 10:00 p.m. at the 3700 block of W. Miller Lane for armed battery, but was not booked at the Milwaukee County jail and is pending charges. Albernathy Jr. was placed on administrative duties. He has been in the MPD for five years.

The other incident, on January 3, 2023, Milwaukee Police Detective Shaletta Whiters, 42, was charged with two misdemeanors for obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct. She has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.

If convicted, Whiters is facing up to 9-months in jail for obstructing an officer and $10,000 in fines, and 90-days in jail and $1,000 in fines for disorderly conduct. Whiters remains free on a $1,000 cash bond.

33-year-old Dyango J. Zerpa, Milwaukee County Supervisor For The 14th District Resigns From His First Term In Office

Zerpa was previously fired as a legislative aide to State Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez in August 2022.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Hispanic News Network U.S.A. (HNNUSA) has learned that Dyango J.  Zerpa, 33, the current Milwaukee County Supervisor for the 14th District (formerly the 12th District) last day in office was on Thursday, he previously submitted his resignation effective on Friday, January 27, 2023. Zerpa previously notified the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office and the Milwaukee County Clerk's Office as per law that he would resign effective Friday.

Zerpa says that he will pursue other career opportunities, but didn't not explained why he resigned from the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors.

His resignation will likely lead to a special election to fill his seat on the 14th District for County Supervisor.

In August 2022, HNNUSA first broke the story of Zerpa, then a legislative aide to State Representative Silvia Ortiz-Velez (D-Milw) had been terminated after she discovered that Zerpa had claimed worked hours in order to collect a salary when in fact Zerpa did not work those hours at her Madison legislative office.

Rep. Ortiz-Velez reported Zerpa's disception to collect a salary for hours he did not work to the Legislative Human Resources Office and a legislative audit was conducted, which found Zerpa indeed claimed hours for salary when he did not work and was terminated.

On Friday, Wisconsin State Representative Ortiz-Velez confirmed that she isn't aware, if Zerpa ever refunded the salary pay to the state that he collected, but didn't actually worked.

So far, the State hasn't criminally charged Zerpa for falsely filling out time cards for hours worked to collect a salary, which he never worked in Madison at State Representative Ortiz-Velez's 8th Assembly District office.

Representative Ortiz-Velez  confirmed that Zerpa had been terminated by the State on July 18, 2022. Rep. Ortiz-Velez also released the following statement to HNNUSA in August, "Mr. Zerpa was terminated by the state for misconduct connected with his work after a full investigation. The State recommended termination action, and I supported the state's decision to terminate Mr.  Zerpa."

According to Milwaukee County Court records, on January 2006, a petition was approved for Dyango Joses Smith to change his name to Dyango Joses Zerpa.

Zerpa was also the legislative aide to Ortiz-Velez when she was a Milwaukee County Supervisor in the 12th District and he worked worked in her election to get elected to the County seat in the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors replacing then incumbent Supervisor Peggy West in April 2018.

Zerpa while working as a legislative aide to Rep. Ortiz-Velez in Madison, he ran in 2021 unopposed for the 12th District Supervisor's seat (now the 14th District after redistricting) vacated by Ortiz-Velez.

While Zerpa was a County Supervisor in the last 8 months, he allegedly committed some irregularities while in office at the County level and also some irregularities in his campaign finance reports, but not serious enough to warrant any criminal charges by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office, according to sources. 

A Special Election will be held at a later date to fill the seat for the remaining time of 1 year and 4 months left of a 2 year term Zerpa has resigned from.

40-year-old Ishmael Simmons, A Teacher At South Milwaukee High School Facing Criminal Charges For Punching 16-year-old Hispanic Student Multiple Times

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the criminal complaint by the South Milwaukee Police Department alleging that Simmons, a teacher at South Milwaukee High School criminally punched a 16-year-old Hispanic male sophomore multiple times during dismissal, according to pending charges.

South Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Monday, Ishmael Simmons, 40, a teacher at South Milwaukee High School was taken into custody by South Milwaukee Police after Simmons allegedly punched a 16-year-old Hispanic sophomore multiple times during a dismissal, what police are classifying as a teacher having an altercation with a student.

The mother of the student was allowed to see the camera surveillance video that recorded the incident when her son attempted to exit the school. Apparently, Simmons stopped the student from exiting and is seen punching the student multiple times. The mother has requested a copy of the video, but both the South Milwaukee High School administration and South Milwaukee police are refusing to release the video. Also, multiple mainstream media news outlets have also requested a copy of the video, but the school administrators and police have refused.

Simmons was released from custody by police pending charges. The South Milwaukee School District confirmed that Simmons was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
