Laredo, Texas - On Monday, November 21, 2022 just before 9:00 p.m., Laredo police, U.S. Border Patrol, Texas Department of Public Saftey troopers and Webb County Sheriff's deputies responded to the Lafayette Bridge by Madison Street and Eagle Pass Ave. located in the Canta Ranas neighborhood after a Laredo police investigator was reported injured in a hit-and-run incident, the Laredo Police Department reported.
According to the law enforcement preliminary investigation, Laredo Police Investigator Severiano Medina III, 36, was reported injured after a suspect struck the investigator with his vehicle and then fled the scene.
Investigator Medina apparently made a traffic stop by the Lafayette Bridge and got into an altercation with a suspect who managed to get back into his vehicle and strike Medina with the vehicle and then fled.
A passerby, stopped to aid Medina and was able to call 911.
The suspect was later arrested pending felony charges, according to police sources.
Investigator Medina was hospitalized and is in stable condition, the Laredo Police Department says.
Medina was promoted to investigator on January 2021, according to the Laredo Police Department.
