Governor Of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rosselló Announced His Resignation Effective August 2, 2019




Rosselló was forced to resign after a corruption scandal broke.

San Juan, Puerto Rico -  On Wednesday, Ricardo Rosselló, the Governor of Puerto Rico announced his resignation effective August 2, 2019 after weeks of protests in the island. Rosselló faced millions of protesters in Puerto Rico and the U.S. who took to the streets in protest and calling for his resignation following a corruption scandal and leaked chat text messages between him and his top aides that contained homophobic and misogynistic slurs targeted at political rivals, women and Hurricane Maria survivors.
Feds also confiscated Rosselló's cellphone with warrant, which a federal investigation is underway in the corruption probe, according to federal authorities.
