Arnell Deron Gilmer Charged With Reckless Homicide Of Teneya Smith

Gilmer shot his girlfriend in the head and has been charged with reckless homicide.

Milwaukee, WI - On Thursday, Arnell Deron Gilmer, 38, a convicted felon was charged with two felony counts for 1st-degree reckless homicide and felon with possession of a weapon in connection with last Sunday's shooting homicide of Teneya Smith, 40, his live in girlfriend. If convicted Gilmer is facing up to 60 years in prison for reckless homicide and 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines. 
According to police, Gilmer got into an argument with Smith and during the domestic dispute at a residence near N. 94 and W. Bradley Rd., he took a gun and shot her in the head. Several children were at home, but they were not injured.
The suspect stayed at the crime scene until police arrived. Police took Gilmer into custody at the residence. A weapon was recovered at the crime scene.
Smith was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. She was a nurse at the Milwaukee Area Technical College.
According to court records, Gilmer was a wanted convicted felon on parole for a drug related conviction was not supposed to have a weapon. A warrant for Gilmer's arrest was issued on March 2, 2016 for several charges including one felony count for substantial battery-intend bodily harm and a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct.
Smith was known as Nay Nay by friends and family.
