Sostre-Vargas was shot multiple times after he stopped at a red traffic light at the 700 S. Layton Blvd. in the Southside of Milwaukee.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Thursday afternoon, Milwaukee police responded to the 700 block of S. Layton Blvd. at around 4:31 p.m. where they located a male victim driver with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, Julio Sostre-Vargas, 30, aka, "Pook The Barber" was taken to Froedtert Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Also, his 5-year-old son was shot once in the face, but was reported responsive and in critical condition. The child was taken to Children's Hospital for treatment. Both Sostre-Vargas and his son are Hispanic.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office pronounced Sostre-Vargas deceased at 5:01 p.m. at Froedtert Hospital, the Coroner confirmed.
A woman who accompanied the shooting victim and child was not injured.
According to some people at the scene stated, that Sostre-Vargas was heading Northbound on S. Layton Blvd. and stopped at the intersection due to a traffic red light at W. Pierce St. and S. Layton Blvd.
A light tan or silver SUV that was following the victims then began to drive by the driver's side and fired more then 12 shots striking the drivers window at least 10 times fatally hitting Sostre-Vargas, who was later identified by social media.
At least 15 spent cartridges were recovered at the crime scene.
The light tan or silver SUV with unknown suspect(s) fled the scene before police arrived and the Milwaukee Fire Department first responders.
