Victor's wife Gia on Saturday turned in the nine-month Bengal tiger named "India" to authorities in Houston.

Houston, Texas - On Saturday, Gia Cuevas, the wife of Victor Hugo Cuevas, 26, turned their Bengal tiger named India to Houston authorities. Gia confessed to police that India belonged to Victor who had denied that he was the actual owner of the nine-month tiger that became famous after a video posted on social media showed the tiger roaming at a West Houston neighborhood.
Victor managed to take custody of the tiger after it was discovered that it got loose and was roaming in the neighborhood and neighbors called authorities. One of the neighbors was able to video record the tiger walking through a front yard of a house.
An armed off-duty Waller County Sheriff's deputy that lives in the same neighborhood responded to the scene and that's when Victor arrived and told the deputy not to shoot the tiger. Victor was able to put the tiger on his truck and fled from the scene. He was later arrested in Harris County for evading police, but the tiger went missing and Victor wasn't cooperating with authorities in order to locate the tiger.
Victor had been denying that he owned the tiger, which it is illegal in Houston to house or handle an exotic animal without a license.
India, the tiger is now in BARC, the City's animal shelter and on Sunday it will be transported to the Cleveland Armory Black Beauty Ranch, a wildlife sanctuary.
During a press conference, Houston Police Commander Ron Borza confirmed that Victor Hugo Cuevas and his wife Gia Cuevas owned the tiger.
The suspect had his bond revoked after the tiger incident for the six time since, Victor was on bond for a 2017 homicide charge in Ford Bend County and was awaiting trial. A Ford Bend County judge set a $300,000 cash bond for Victor for violating his conditions of bond.
