Tyrell D. Joseph And Ismael E. Moreno Charged In Connection With Purcell A. Pearson's Homicide Over Sunglasses Sale

Pearson was allegedly shot by Moreno, the passenger of a van during an attempted robbery of a pair of $500 designer sunglasses, according to the criminal complaint.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - On Monday, February 22, 2021, the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office issued criminal charges against Tyrell D. Joseph, 17, and Ismael E. Moreno, 17, in connection with the homicide of Purcell A. Pearson, 22, that occurred on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at approximately 12:23 p.m., on 2200 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue, the Milwaukee Police Department reported in a press release.

According to the criminal complaint, Pearson was apparently shot by Moreno, the passenger of a van while Joseph was driving. Both Moreno and Joseph were in the van as they attempted to flee with Pearson's Cartier designer sunglasses, as Pearson hanged on the side of the van passenger door and Moreno then fired the fatal shot that struck Pearson in the left side of the chest making him fall. Pearson was able to get up and run about 20 yards before he collapsed from the gunshot wound and died at the scene along the 2200 block of W. Wisconsin Ave. 

Multiple surveillance cameras in the area captured the incident, according to police.

Both Joseph and Moreno are related, their mothers are sisters.

Joseph was charged with one count of First Degree Reckless Homicide – Party to a Crime. If convicted, he could face up to 60 years in prison. 

Moreno was charged with one count of First Degree Reckless Homicide – Party to a Crime. If convicted, he could face up to 60 years in prison. 

Milwaukee Police say that the two murder suspects remain on the run and police continue to seek both Joseph and Moreno.
