Milwaukee, WI - On Sunday, Captain Alexander "Alex" Ramirez took over the Milwaukee Police District 2 Station replacing Captain Heather N. Wurth. Ramirez in July was promoted to the rank of Captain by Milwaukee Police Chief Edward A. Flynn making him the third Latino to serve as Captain in police district 2 station. Ramirez for the last 26 years served as a Lieutenant in the Milwaukee Police Department. Ramirez as a Lieutenant briefly served as acting Captain in the Narcotics Division until he was promoted to Captain in May by Chief Flynn.
Two other previous former Captains at police district 2 station were Alfonso Morales and Eduardo Negron who became the first Hispanic to lead district 2. As a Lieutenant, Ramirez served under Captain Morales and as a police Sergeant, Ramirez also worked at district 2.
Captain Ramirez has a Masters Degree in Public Service-Administration of Justice from Marquette University.
On Tuesday, Captain Ramirez accompanied by Captain Steven Caballero from the Homicide Unit, Inspector Jutiki Jackson and Officer Kevin Vodicka attended the Walker's Point Association community gathering at the newly opened Snifters Tapas & Spirits on S. 5th Street by co-owners Gabriel Lemus, Julio Maldonado and Terrell Morgan.
