Milwaukee, WI - Three of four suspects have been charged with reckless homicide for the December 19 murder of Delvin Mendoza-Chaparro, 20. Sarah Zakzesky, 20, was charged with 1st-degree reckless homicide and a cash bond was set at $50,000, Branden L. Katzfey, 19, was charged with 1st-degree reckless homicide, bond was set at $10,000 and Devin Katzfey, 20, was charged in absentia for 1st-degree reckless homicide and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. A 20-year-old woman has been taken into custody and criminal charges are pending.
Zakzesky will have a preliminary court hearing on December 29 and Branden will have a preliminary court hearing on December 30.
According to the criminal complaint, Katzfey accused Mendoza-Chaparro of trying to steal a bong and a pipe that was used to smoke marijuana by the group. Katzfey began to beat Mendoza-Chaparro and Zakzesky also joined in the beating. The brutal beating of Mendoza-Chaparro by Katzfey was video recorded and posted on Snapchat, which police found three videos showing Mendoza-Chaparro being beaten.
Mendoza-Chaparro's brutal beating took place at apartment number four at 600 W. Rogers Street where Katzfey and Zakzesky shared in Milwaukee's Southside. After the beating, the suspects took Mendoza-Chaparro who was unconscious to a nearby alley and left him in the snowbank next to some garbage cans behind a rear garage of a home. Mendoza-Chaparro was not dress for the 15 degree frigid weather, which contributed to his death from exposure to the freezing temperatures.
The Milwaukee Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Mendoza-Chaparro died from multiple injuries caused by blunt force trauma to the head and exposure to freezing temperatures.
